Artist Statement

My practice moves between printmaking, sound, memory, and spirituality. Drawing from black musical traditions, I use printmaking to explore how sound carries emotional and cultural resonance. Growing up, my family's diverse musical preferences shaped my musical tastes. Whether a family function had more than 50 people or as few as 2, the living room or the basement's dance floor was always filled with sounds, ranging from reggae to salsa to soul. As the sounds shifted, so did the dances, becoming a ritual of living and celebrating together, in sync through the rhythms of the night. I carry those memories with me as I push the medium's boundaries, treating the print as material and using physical media surfaces as my printing matrix to amplify reflection, movement, and transition.
